What is Studio Practice for Writers?

About Studio Practice for Writers

Studio Practice for Writers champions the exploration of the creative process by creating art of all types: painting and sculpture, contemporary art, written work, film, mixed-media and performance.

Exploration of The Creative Process

The Studio Mentality

As a writer, I don’t need a physical studio but carry around with me a ‘studio mentality’. That is, a feeling that wherever I sit down to read, research, sketch, draft, reflect and write, I’m ‘at my studio’. I’m engaging in creative practice.

What’s next?

Some wonderfully inspiring progress is being made ‘behind-the-scenes’ to enable Studio Practice for Writers to move to the next stage. I’d like to build a central gathering point for an interdisciplinary group of creative people to come together to share their progress, wins and challenges, facilitated by an esteemed mentor. Check back and I’ll post more news as this vision develops.

Who is Marilyn Miller?

My name is Marilyn Miller. I’m the founder of Studio Practice for Writers. I’m a writer. I write many things, but my practice is mostly concerned with characters, emotion and ideas, and less concerned with format.

I write long and short stories. I write essays. I’ve written a novel. My current works-in-progress include a literary science fiction novel called Machine City 2050, short-stories, a novel intended to be an audio book, and the various essays, jottings and musings that become visual narrative and music for YouTube.
